    Sumatra program MEDAN - BOHOROK - TOBA LAKE

    Overview

    Sumatra, Indonesia's largest island and nicknamed the "Island of Gold", is known for its unique culture and natural attractions. Here is Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser - one of the largest national parks in the world, as well as Lake Toba, the Batak and Mentawai peoples, Taman Nasional Way Kambas National Park, archaeological finds in Pugung and other amazing places. We offer tours of varying lengths to all the attractions of Sumatra.

    Day 1
    Kuala Namu – Bohorok.
    • Arrive at Medan Kuala Namu Airport before 12 noon.
    • Meet and greet, then drive northwest about 5 hours to Bohorok, an orangutan center.
    • Along the way we pass through several small towns, as well as rubber and palm plantations, with a backdrop of rural scenery.
    • Stop to see a palm plantation from the outside. If it's high season, you can stop to see the rambutan and cocoa garden, and also stop by the local market in Kuala.
    • Arrival in Bohorok, check-in at the hotel, Bukit Lawang Ecolodge or Rindu Alam Hotel.
    Day 2
    Trekking to Bohorok for Orangutan watching - Medan
    • Early morning after breakfast, the start of a three-hour trek in the jungle, where you can see semi-wild orangutans.
    • Steep slopes and dense vegetation lead you into the jungles of Sumatra.
    • Opportunity to see several species of local flora and fauna. If you're lucky, you might spot an orangutan, a leaf monkey, a macaque, gibbons, siamangs and a variety of birds.
    • Tourists must be in good physical shape and have suitable footwear. The trekking pace will be adjusted to the clients' endurance.
    • After trekking, departure and transfer to Medan. Visit to the Indian Catholic Church of Mary Annai Velangkani in Medan, check-in at a hotel, Cambridge (5) or Grand City Hall or Aryaduta (4).
    Day 3
    Medan - Brastagi - Parapat - Samosir
    • After breakfast, departure to Brastagi - a resort with a cool climate and magnificent mountain scenery.
    • Visit Taman Lumbini, Golden Burmese Stupa and Brastagi Fruit Market.
    • Continuation of the journey to Parapat - a famous resort on the eastern shore of Lake Toba.
    • Along the way, visit the traditional Batak-Karo village.
    • Stop at the 120 meter high Sipisopiso waterfall with a picturesque view of Lake Toba.
    • Transfer to Parapat through vegetable and fruit plantations, pine forests and breathtaking views of Lake Toba.
    • Arrive in Parapat, depart for Samosir, an island in the center of Lake Toba by public boat in about an hour. Check-in at the hotel, Tabo Cottages or Samosir Cottages (boutique hotel).
    Day 4
    Trekking to Bohorok for Orangutan watching - Medan
    • After breakfast, start the tour of Samosir on a private motor boat.
    • Visit to the tomb of King Sidabutar and the village of Batak Toba in Tomok.
    • Then to Ambarita, a traditional village with ancient megalithic furniture in front of traditional houses.
    • Return to Parapat by public ferry, then depart for Medan.
    • Along the way, for the first three hours we pass vast vistas of rubber plantations, oil plantations, rice terraces, etc., as well as small towns such as Pematang Siantar and Tebing Tinggi.
    • Arrival in Medan, check-in at the hotel, Cambridge (5) or Grand City Hall or Aryaduta (4).
    Day 5
    Departure
    • Free time until transfer to the airport.
    • Taking into account the current transport situation, we take clients to the airport from the hotel 4 hours before departure.
