TOUR in Kalimantan - RIVER CRUISE ON BOARD Sekonyer, Tanjung Puting National Park

    3 Days 2 Night

    Overview

The culture and nature of the island of Kalimantan (Borneo) attract travelers from all over the world. One of the exciting routes for those visiting Balikpapan or Samarinda is to travel along the Mahakam River. There are amazing views here: wild orchids, Proboscis monkeys, orangutans, crocodiles, macaques. For lovers of adventure and diving, Kalimantan also offers unique opportunities. All this makes the island an ideal place for relaxation and unique experiences.

    Day 1
PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI – TANJUNG HARAPAN
    • Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be greeted by our local staff and transferred to Kumai Port where you will board the Wow Kalimantan boat.
    • Each boat is a restored traditional Klotok, or wooden river boat, measuring approximately 18m by 3m, with a comfortable top deck from which you can watch the jungle float past.
    • The boats have 3 air conditioned cabins below deck. Your cabin is fully equipped with bed linen, towels and toiletries.
    • Delicious Asian fusion lunches are served at the table on the upper deck.
    • The boat's crew includes a captain, a cook, a cook's assistant and a guide (English speaking).
    • On our way to Tanjung Puting National Park, our first stop is Tanjung Harapan, an orangutan rehabilitation center.
    • After a short walk in the forest to the sites we witness the feeding at 15:00.
    • Late in the evening, during a calm time of day, we slowly explore the quiet river to watch for proboscis monkeys and perhaps the sparkling fireflies in season at the nypa palms along the shore. Optional night walk in the forest.
    • Dinner and overnight on the boat.
    Day 2
TANJUNG HARPAN – SECONIER RIVER – CAMP LEAKY
    • During breakfast on the boat, Klotok slowly ascends the river, where wildlife can be seen in the coastal forests, and then turns from the muddy Sekonyer River into a narrow black-water channel that leads to Camp Leakey.
    • Upon arrival, we stroll along forest paths to a wild orangutan feeding area, where they can be seen making their way across the treetops, echoing the calls of keepers.
    • We continue our walking tour through the forest to see more orangutans in their natural habitat.
    • We board Klotok again and continue our cruise down the river, watching animals and birds.
    • Dinner and overnight on board.
    Day 3
PONDOK TANGGI – PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT
    • The boat floats down the river and you watch the forest and wildlife along the way.
    • Return to the Sekonyer River, stopping at Pondok Tangi, a rehabilitation center for new orangutans rescued from captivity.
    • A final walk through the forest to spot orangutans in this beautiful natural environment.
    • Upon returning to the boat, lunch is served as we slowly move down the river, watching for wildlife.
    • After lunch, we arrive in Kumai for transfer to Pangkalan Bun Airport.
